McDonalds Highlights Local Dairy Ties
Restaurants

They're a world-wide company, but McDonalds was highlighting its local ties Wednesday. The restaurant, along with Kemps, held an "Open Door Day" in Albert Lea talking about the importance of using locally produced dairy products.

They gave a behind the scenes tour to officials in the dairy industry, including Stacy Leiding's family who farms and sends their milk to Kemps in Rochester. Kemps, in turn, provides 34,000,000 jugs of milk to McDonalds every year. Leiding says incorporating milk into our kids diet is something that shouldn't be overlooked. "I think one of the nicest things McDonalds does is they offer the white and chocolate milk for our youth in the Happy Meal. It's very important in this day in age that we start young and promote healthy, nutritious products with milk being most important."

The Leiding family is being featured by McDonalds to promote the restaurants partnership with local farmers.
