Actors Wanted: Happy Days Auditions

Actors Wanted: Happy Days Auditions

Albert Lea Community Theatre (ACT) announces auditions will be held May 22 and 23 from 7−10 p.m., for the summer musical Happy Days at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, 147 N. Broadway in Albert Lea.

Ten performances of this new musical based on the popular television series starring Albert Lea native Marion Ross are scheduled for July 10−20. Ross will also return to her hometown as an honored guest during the production.

There are 17 roles to cast in the show, including 14 energetic teenagers who enjoy singing and dancing. Popular characters in the musical include “The Fonz,” Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham, Richie Cunningham, Ralph Malph, Potsie, Chachi, Joanie and many others. James Dean and Elvis Presley also make cameo appearances.

Met Opera Comes to Albert Lea

If you enjoy the opera, you don't have to go any farther than Albert Lea.

The Met Opera, out of New York City, is showing live through a simulcast at the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.

Saturday's "The Elixer of Love" was the first of twelve performances. The Marion Ross Performing Arts Center is the first independent theater in Minnesota to offer the series.

"There are other theatres in the area that show them, there's one in Mankato and I think Minneapolis, or you'd have to go to Sioux Falls or down to Des Moines to be able to see this so we hope that people take advantage of uh coming to the opera, a little bit closer and it's world class," said Eileen Ness, with Albert Lea Civic Music.

"Otello" is the next performance, which will be shown on October 27th. Tickets are $20 for adults, and $12 for kids.
