Semi And Jeep Collide On I-35 Near Albert Lea

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a semi truck and a Jeep collided on northbound Interstate 35 near Albert Lea on Monday night.

It happened shortly after 9pm when the driver of the semi lost control on the on-ramp to Interstate 90.  Authorities say the semi hit the rear bumper of the Jeep .  The semi then skidded across the on-ramp and landed in the ditch on its side.

Authorities say the roads were icy at the time.

The driver of the semi was 54 year old Bradley Adams of Pleasant Hill, IA.  38 year old Erick Abrego of Albert Lea was driving the Jeep.

The patrol reports that no one was hurt. 

Gold Cross Ambulance and Albert Lea Fire responded to the accident.

It's the winter that hasn't been winter.  This Winter (December-February) in SE Minnesota is so far the 2nd warmest all time seeing an average temperature of 24.7°. The warmest was back in 01-02 at 25.1°. There's still 13 more days left to this month and with mild temperatures ahead we could break the alltime record.  Temperatures only need to make up 0.4° on average.

Snow Plow Accident Slows Traffic On I-90 Near Hayward

An accident on Monday afternoon slowed traffic along Interstate 90 in Freeborn County.  The Minnesota State Patrol reports that the roads were icy at the time of the crash.

Authorities say a 20 year old man from Albert Lea was hurt in the accident, though his injuries are not life threatening.

That 20 year old, Dakota Lee, lost control of his truck and rear-ended a plow driven by a 57 year old man from Owatonna, according to the patrol.

It happened around 4:45pm on Monday near mile marker 162.  That is located near Hayward.

27 Year Old Killed In Collision Near Manchester

A semi truck hauling hogs collided with a car in Freeborn County during very foggy conditions Wednesday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol reports that the accident happened at 10:15am along Highway 13, north of Manchester.

Felicity A. Mathieu, 27, was the driver of the car, according to the patrol.  They also report that she was not wearing her seatbelt.  She was driving the 2004 Pontiac Grand Am that collided with the semi truck.  Family members tell us she was from Hartland.

Authorities say only 2 people were involved in 2 different vehicles.  The State Patrol says driver of the semi truck, a 41 year old man from Kasson, wasn't hurt.

Warming Houses Close For Season In Albert Lea

The Albert Lea Park and Rec Department says that warming houses will be closed for the season due to warm weather temperatures.

Their openings were delayed several times over the last couple of months.  They finally opened for just 10 days in January.

Park and Rec is hoping for a better winter for warming houses next year.
