Meteorologist Chris Kuball comes to ABC 6 News from the southern Iowa town of Chariton. He joined the ABC 6 Weather Team in December 2007 as a weekend meteorologist. Chris graduated with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology from Iowa State University in May of 2007. The last year of college, Chris gained forecasting experience by interning at KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa.
While growing up in Iowa, Chris experienced all the extremes weather has to offer. He became interested in weather as a young kid staying up late watching thunderstorms roll through.
The most interesting weather event Chris experienced occurred on November 12th, 2005 when he saw his first tornado. It happened while Chris was walking to a ISU football game. The tornado narrowly missed a packed football stadium and tailgating lots by only 2 miles!
When Chris isn't forecasting the weather he enjoys spending time with his wife Tiffany, son Alex, friends and family. You can also frequently find him staying active, playing sports such as racquetball, softball and running. Chris actively cheers on the Iowa State Cyclones, Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Vikings.
Chris is excited to continue forecasting close to home in Southeastern Minnesota and North Central Iowa. You can catch Chris on air Saturdays & Sundays at 10pm and occasionally filling in for Steve and Rusty.
